Website Privacy Statement 


MAJAN EDUCATION is committed to providing visitors with a website that respects their privacy. Important information about our data gathering and dissemination practices follows: 


IP Address 


Web servers automatically collect information about visits to a website, including the visitor’s Internet Protocol (IP) address. IP addresses are unique numbers assigned to all devices used to access the Internet. The IP address, on its own, does not identify an individual. However, in certain circumstances, such as with the co-operation of an ISP for example, it could be used to identify an individual using the site. For this reason, MAJAN EDUCATION considers the IP address to be personal information. 


MAJAN EDUCATION employs software programs that monitor network traffic and detect unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. These programs record the IP addresses of computers that visit this site. They also record the date and time of visits, the pages viewed, and the browsers and operating systems used by visitors. We do not attempt to link this information to the identities of individual users, unless an attempt to damage the site has been detected. 


IP addresses of visitors may, on occasion, be anonymized and used by MAJAN EDUCATION to produce statistical reports to allow us to evaluate the geographical origin of visitors to the Bank’s site. 

Visitor IP addresses are also recorded by the Google Analytics software installed on the MAJAN EDUCATION website. 


Cookies 


MAJAN EDUCATION website puts small files (known as ‘cookies’) onto your computer to collect information about how you browse the site. 

Cookies are used to: 

measure how you use the website so it can be updated and improved based on your needs 

remember preferences you’ve chosen, such as language 

remember the notifications you’ve seen so that we don’t show them to you again

Information collected by Google Analytics is stored on Google servers in the United States and may be subject to the governing legislation in that country (for example, the USA Patriot Act). Your IP address is anonymized prior to being stored on Googles’ servers in order to help safeguard your privacy. 


If you do not wish to have your information shared with the Analytics software, Google makes available a “plug-in” for users of the Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and Chrome browsers which prevents your browser from sharing any information with the Analytics software. Surveys 


Occasionally MAJAN EDUCATION conducts online surveys, some of which are managed on our behalf by a third party. The third party uses cookies to identify unique visitors, to provide per-user customization, and to make the site easier to use. It does not share its cookies or use them to track your behaviour on other sites. 


Third-Party social media 


Majan Educations’ use of social media serves as an extension of its presence on the Web. Social media accounts are public and are not hosted on the MAJAN EDUCATION servers. Users who choose to interact with MAJAN EDUCATION via social media should read the terms of service and privacy policies of these third-party service providers and those of any applications you use to access them.

Information Security and Privacy Policy 


We regard the lawful and correct treatment of personal information and the maintenance of confidence of those with whom we interact as extremely important to our operation. As such, this statement will apply equally to Majan Education irrespective of where it is based. 

Majan Education is an international organisation for cultural relations, personal development, skills training, and educational opportunities.  

We collect and use personal data to offer people information, products and services. This policy will apply in all locations where we operate, to all forms of information and to all systems used to collect, store, process or transfer information. 


Majan Education is committed to: 


performing privacy impact assessments to protect the privacy and rights of its customers and employees 

protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the information it collects, stores, transfers and processes in accordance with Omani law and international good practice, and to meeting its legal requirements and contractual obligations 

explaining why it needs personal information, only asking for the personal information it needs and only sharing personal information within Majan Education and with other organisations as necessary or where the person concerned has given their consent 

allowing people to request access to the personal information it holds on them  

not keeping personal information for longer than necessary taking measures to protect the rights and freedoms of individuals whose personal information may be transferred to countries with differing data protection laws ensuring that actual or suspected breaches of information security are reported and investigated assessing and measuring the maturity of its information security controls annually applying these standards to its supply chain and delivery partners. 


We will provide adequate and appropriate resources to implement this policy and will ensure it is communicated and understood. 

Majan Education will review this global policy statement annually to reflect new legal and regulatory developments and ensure good practice. 

 

DATA PROTECTION 


Right to Access Personal Information 


Any individual has a right to ask for a copy of the personal information held about them. This means that you can ask for the information that Majan Education holds about you. This is known as the right of ‘subject access.’ 


Right to Restrict Processing of Personal Information 


In some situations, you have the right to require us to restrict the processing of your personal information. We may restrict your personal information by temporarily moving the information to another processing system, making the information unavailable to users, or temporarily removing published information from a website. We may also use technical methods to ensure the personal information is not subject to further processing and cannot be changed. When we have restricted processing of personal information, this will be clearly indicated on our systems. 

You can require us to restrict processing in the following circumstances: 

We are processing your personal data unlawfully and you do not want us to delete the information but restrict it instead. 

You are concerned that the information we hold about you is inaccurate. You can ask us to restrict the information until we are able to determine whether the information is accurate or inaccurate. 

We no longer need the information for the purposes for which we collected it, but they are needed by you for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. 

You have objected to the processing (see below) and we need to decide whether the legitimate interests we have to process the information override your fundamental rights. 

 

 

 

Processing You Think is Unlawful 


If you tell us that you think we are processing your personal information unlawfully, but you do not want the information to be erased, you have the right to require us to restrict the processing of that information. 

We will ask you for an explanation about why you think the processing is unlawful and may also ask that you provide evidence to support this view. 


Processing of Personal Information you Think is Inaccurate 


You can tell us if you think the personal information, we are processing about you is factually inaccurate. You can require us to restrict how we use your personal information until we can verify the accuracy of the information. We will ask you for an explanation about why you think the information is inaccurate and may also ask that you provide some supporting evidence of the alleged inaccuracy. 

If we find that personal information, we are processing about you is inaccurate, we will take appropriate steps to correct the information. 


Personal Information no Longer Needed by Majan Education but Needed by You in Connection with a Legal Claim 


In most circumstances, we will securely delete or dispose of personal information when we no longer need it for our legitimate business purposes. Our approach to retention is outlined in our corporate retention schedules. 

However, if personal information we no longer need would assist you in establishing, exercising or defending a legal claim, you can require us to keep the information for as long as necessary. We may ask you to provide an explanation and any available supporting evidence that a legal claim is on-going or contemplated. 


Right to Object to Processing 


You have the right to object to Majan Education processing your personal data in the following circumstances: 


Personal Information Used for Direct Marketing 


If we are using your personal information to send you direct marketing, you have the right to object at any time. If you exercise this right, we will stop processing your personal information for direct marketing purposes. However, we may keep your information on a “suppression list” to ensure your information is not added to any marketing lists at some point in the future. 

 

 

Automated Decision Making and Profiling 


‘Profiling’ is automated use of personal data held on computer to analyse or predict things which have a legal effect, or other similarly significant effect, on the individual. Examples would include economic situation, health, personal preferences or interests and location. You have the right not to be subject to a solely automated decision (that is, a decision made electronically, with no human intervention), and this may include profiling (although there is no general right to object to profiling). If you are concerned Majan Education has made a solely automated decision about you, you can object. 

Please note, Majan Education is allowed to carry out automated decisions with no human intervention where you have given your explicit consent to this processing (although you have the right to withdraw your consent). 


We are also permitted to make automated decisions with no human intervention in the following circumstances: 

The automated decision is necessary to enter into, or perform a contract, or complete a contract involving you and Majan Educatione.g making an electronic purchase. 


However, you still have a general right to object in the above circumstance, providing reasons why you think the processing is having a negative effect on you. If you do object, we will carefully consider your reasons, and decide whether to review the decision-making process in your specific case. 


Right to Erasure of Personal Data (“the right to be forgotten”) 


In the following circumstances, you have the right to require that Majan Education securely deletes or destroys your personal information: 

If the personal information we hold about you is no longer necessary for the purposes for which we originally collected it. 

The processing is based on consent – if you have previously given your consent to Majan Education collecting and processing your personal information, and you notify us that you withdraw your consent. Please note: withdrawing your consent does not mean the processing of your personal data which occurred before the withdrawal was unlawful. 


We are processing your personal information for direct marketing purposes, and you want us to stop. 

If you think Majan Education has processed your personal information unlawfully. 

If you think any of the above situations apply, we may ask you for an explanation and further information to verify this. 

 

 

 

Right to Data Portability 


If you have provided your information to Majan Education, you have the right to request and receive a copy of that information in a structured, commonly-used and machine-readable format. 


You also have the right to ask us to send the information we hold about you to another organisation. 

There are some situations in which the right to data portability does not apply.  


Your Right to Complain to a National Data Protection Regulator (Data Protection Supervisory Authority) 

If you think we have processed your personal information unfairly or unlawfully, or we have not complied with your rights, you have the right to complain to a national data protection regulator.

FAQ  

 

1. Is eLearning Really Effective or Simply an Attempt to Digitalize Training? 


Many people consider online training to be a useful solution in terms of scalability rather than effectiveness. Somehow it is ingrained in us that classroom training with instructors and face-to-face interactions is more effective, even if not very convenient. However, this idea that one training mode is inherently better than another may not be true. Effective learning has more to do with how you build the experience by using the assets you have than whether training is happening in a classroom or online. 


According to Catherine Lombardozzi, “Learning theorists and researchers have come to understand that we don’t so much ‘teach’ as we create an environment in which people can learn”. Consequently, how effective the eLearning solution will be depending entirely on how good your instructional design strategy is in engaging learners and how aligned your course content is to the learning objectives. 


An important point to note is that though online training very effective, in many situations it cannot replace Instructor-led Training (ILT). Thereforeblended learning solutions with both ILT and online learning in the mix often serve to ensure an effective learning experience. 


2. Does Online Training Really Save Time and Money? 


It’s widely assumed that anything involving technology is inevitably expensive. Though this is a very relevant question within and outside L&D, the fact is, both the amount of time and money depend entirely on the duration of the course, its level of complexity, and the format used. 


Videos and audio podcasts are easy to make, don’t need much time to produce, and are relatively inexpensive. Game-based designs and simulations on the other hand, involve high level interactivities, take more time to develop, and cost more as well. 


In the larger scheme of things, online learning is more cost effective than ILT, especially in businesses with a global presence. With online training, you can do away with recurring costs for the training venue, instructor fee, employee accommodation, traveling, and refresher training every few months.   


3. How can eLearning Enhance Knowledge Retention? 


Post-training knowledge retention is one of the measures of training effectiveness. So, what is it about eLearning that lets learners beat the forgetting curve and helps retain knowledge? An effective and engaging online training program is a mix of the right instructional strategy – using bite-sized microlearning modules and providing spaced training over a period of time. 


Effective Instructional Design Strategies ensure learners stay engaged throughout the course. The most popular strategies are storytelling, scenarios, guided learning, gamification, and game-based designs. Each strategy offers learners a unique experience that’ll help them understand and retain the information they acquire. 


Microlearning involves small and focused learning modules, each focusing on a single learning objective. The idea underlying this training methodology is that small information chunks are more easily retained than longer eLearningMicrolearning modulesprovide specific focused information without beating around the bush. They also avoid the monotony of longer courses. 


Spaced Learning offers training at regular intervals across a time period. Knowledge is more easily retained when it is served at intervals to learners with breaks in between, than overwhelming them with too much information at once. 


4. Are LMSs Days Numbered? 


No, not at all! LMSs still are an important aspect of eLearning training programs. It’s just that they are not the only players in the market now. An increasing number of management systems such as Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS) and Learning Record Stores (LRS) are being used by organizations with or without an LMS. According to the 2018 eLearning Guild report, two-thirds of their respondents used some form of social knowledge management and talent management platform alongside their LMS. 


With the emergence of new eLearning technical standards such as xAPI and cmi5, it has become necessary for organizations to opt for LMSs with en-suite LRS or incorporate an external LRS to work along with the LMS. While these new management platforms include many different features, none of them offer tracking, analyzing, and reporting on the scale an LMS does. Moreover, LMSs too are evolving and offering in-built or plug-in options for most eLearning related operations. 


5. Are New-age eLearning Trends a Necessity or a Fad? 


L&D is abuzz with the ‘new-age’ eLearning trends – Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, and Virtual Reality. Agreed, these are very high-end technological solutions, but are they really relevant for your organization at the present time? 

Whether AI or AR/VR, incorporating these trends in online learning is as complex as it is expensive. And very few of your organizational training needs actually need AI or AR/VR. They also need to be custom designed (needing more than just courseware developers’ expertise) and can’t be developed using rapid authoring tools. 

Adobe Captivate is one among very few authoring tools which can develop courses with low level AR functionality. Artificial Intelligence needs large scale data mining to work and at present, is functional only in a limited capacity in adaptive engines. 


While these new age learning trends can seem very pervasive in L&D, at present, most organizational training hasn’t evolved enough to need them. 

 

 

 

 


 

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND MEDIA RIGHTS 

 

The Client and Individuals acknowledge that MAJAN EDUCATION are licenced by vendors to exclusive distribution rights and that all rights, title, and interest in and to all lessons, classes (including E-Classes), tutorials, courses and eBooks all of which are protected by the relevant copyright and intellectual property laws, and shall not be shared, sold, copied, recorded, reproduced or disclosed by the Client and/or Individuals s by any means or for any purpose without the express written consent of  

 

The Client and Individuals further acknowledge that it shall have no right to use any trademark owned or used by MAJAN EDUCATION without the express written consent of MAJAN EDUCATION. 

 

Any unauthorised use, sharing, sale, copying, recording, reproduction, or disclosure of the Course Materials (or any part thereof) or MAJAN EDUCATION’s intellectual property rights, including any unauthorised use of any trademark owned or used by MAJAN EDUCATION, shall, in addition to any other rights and remedies available to MAJAN EDUCATION at law, in equity or under statute, be valid grounds for legal action, seeking damages and restitution.  

 

The Client and Individuals consent to MAJAN EDUCATION using the Individuals ’s name, work, photographs, academic records, photographs, audio/visual recordings and other material for promotional and other purposes such as publicising MAJAN EDUCATION and its Individuals s’ accomplishments to internal and external audiences, including in print and online, whether during the Individuals ’s enrolment with MAJAN EDUCATION or thereafter. 

 

DISCLAIMER 

 

In consideration of MAJAN EDUCATION and/or its Staff providing the Services to Individuals, the Client and Individuals hereby agree to undertake all the risk and liability arising from or incidental to the provision of the Services to the Individuals, whether the provision of such Services takes place on MAJAN EDUCATION’s premises or otherwise, and, to the fullest extent permitted by law, neither MAJAN EDUCATION nor its Owners or Staff shall be liable for any loss, damages, expenses, personal injury or death of any person which may arise as a result of the Client or the Individuals availing of the Services or the use of MAJAN EDUCATION’s premises whether direct or indirect and whether reasonably foreseeable or not, unless such loss, damage, expense, personal injury or death is directly caused solely by the negligence of MAJAN EDUCATION and not attributable at all to any fault, negligence or lack of care on the part of the Client or the Individuals . 

 

 

 

The Client shall: 

 

indemnify, defend and hold harmless MAJAN EDUCATION and its Owner and Staff from and against all loss, claims, demands or causes of action and any liabilities, damages, costs or expenses resulting therefrom (including expenses and legal fees on an indemnity basis) caused by, arising out of or relating to the breach of or non-compliance with any terms of the Contract and these Terms & Conditions on the part of the Client and/or Individuals or arising out of any wilful default, misconduct or negligence on the part of the Client and/or Individuals ;
